“Beauty and tranquility just minutes from Florence”

If you want a wonderful stay in Florence with a mix of city and Tuscan countryside, stay at Residenza Strozzi! We thought we’d be here for a week and ended up settling here for over a month. We are a New Zealand family with two primary school aged girls. This property is well appointed for both adults and children. Guido and Pia were excellent hosts and went the extra mile to help us out. Nothing was too much trouble.

The apartment forms part of an historic C16th house situated in a beautiful 20 hectare estate. The location is brilliant. You are on the outskirts of Florence so quick and easy access by bus into the centre for sightseeing and concerts. You are also in the peaceful Tuscan countryside with a beautiful garden, set amongst the olive groves with birds singing and the Duomo on the horizon. We have loved relaxing in their peaceful garden, reading, cooking BBQ’s and sipping on our chianti. The property is gated so very safe for children and secure car parking. We walked to the local village, close by most days. The village has a great traditional Tuscan restaurant, well stocked Alimentaire and bar. There are lots of lanes you can explore on the bikes. Fiesole is a short drive and the Autostrada is a handy few kms away if you are driving further. You are less than 5 minutes driving to all the larger shops you will need like banks, supermarkets, post office, chemist etc.

The girls were very excited at living in converted stables. The original railings are still intact dividing each room. They lived on the mezzanine floor which was well set up including desks for school work. The rest of the apartment was tastefully decorated and had everything we needed, with lots of extras including wifi. It had a light, airy feeling which was important for us.

Guido and Pia live next door so were available for anything we needed. They had great maps and guide books. Guido would pop in and give us suggestions about what we could do the next day. They also helped us out of many tricky situations - a flat tyre on a Sunday, computer problems, arriving back on a public holiday with no food and thinking that the supermarkets would be open. Pia arrived with a huge basket of provisions to tide us over. She is a wonderful cook. The list goes on. They both speak English which was also very helpful.

This has been a home away from home for us. Being from NZ we loved the space that you typically don’t get in European cities. We are very sad to leave and hope to come back again one day.

We - a couple and our two daughters - stayed one year in Residenza Strozzi. It was a wonderfull experience. The house is very beautifull, cosy, quiete with all the equipment needed. The garden is "a must", and a kind of paradise for the children and us ! The location of the Scuderia is very convenience (5 mns far away from the city center by car, and 15 by bus). The owners are very discreet, helpful and extremly friendly. We loved the place so much that we would like to stay even longer ..

I really had expected to arrive at this property and find that it was too good to be true but am thrilled to say it was the exact opposite! Our stay at "La Scuderia" was fantastic both in terms of location, decor and style and exceeded all our expectations. Guido was brilliant and naturally helpful and relaxed. I would absolutely come back to stay,ideally in the spring and see the property in all its spring time glory. It was a wonderful haven to which to return after enjoying the beauty of Florence and other Tuscan towns - sheer joy. Could easily have stayed on many weeks longer!!
